I mean, the Harman Target is a preference curve anyway it is not 100% neutral (it does not account for all of the pinna gain we expect to hear). But I think if there is any way to improve on the Harman Target (or improve it for some people like myself who don't find it enjoyable) then I'm very interested in that.
#Sonarworks reference 4 ath pro 500mk2 software
I think the rest is spot-on but if we find out that the only difference from Harman is the 2-3 extra db of 2k then I will know that I'm just biased in favour of using Sonarworks' software for some reason and I can learn to get over that. I quickly acclimate to it but I don't think it's accurate, or desirable. I have a hunch it has to do with the B&K 1974 speaker target.Įdit: also, I should acknowledge that there is a bit too much energy around 2-3k with sonarworks for me (around 2-3db or so). Still, I'm curious to know what Sonarworks is up to with their tuning because I do think I prefer it to harman on my other headphones as well. Shame really, because their presentation is crystal clear and they are built like a luxury car. I mean, the sennheisers (HD600) are just about perfectly tuned out of the box to my ears (albeit lacking bass extension and punch) and I have never had the urge to dabble with eq until I bought these LCD-2s just because the mids need quite a bit of work to be usable. I mean we likely just have different preferences but perhaps it is unit variation in my case as well.
