About a dozen sky and rooftop views later instead of actually showing us action, Rin apparently jumps in to fight, only to get stabbed through the leg by Shiki. So much recycled animation from within the same single episode, this is horrendous. Still, Shiki's having none of that and continues to enrage Akira, thus the two continue their battle. Rin shows up to protect Akira, learns that Keisuke's dead, and tries to convince that Akira go with him with Motomi to escape. I don't think I can even attempt to summarize the remaining awful transitions after this point, so I'll just get to the point. I swear that it looked as though Akira got decapitated by Shiki's hand at one point, the animation is so shoddy. Uh, what? One cut ago, he was lying on his back on the ground, yet he's magically upright again in a battle pose? The transitions are so awful, we see Akira get flung to the ground and while on the ground, the next cut shows him holding his knife to stop Shiki's sword. Implied battle time! Before any real attacks are pulled off, the scene shifts to the same rooftop and sky frames from earlier. There's lots of "darkness" that's thrown about, I guess to hide the fact that, well, Keisuke's dead now? Or perhaps this is a mockery of the censoring system in general? It's not the only time they censor things this way in this episode, let alone the whole series, but it's just pointless now.Īnyway, Shiki randomly teleports in and makes general statements about death, while Akira chooses to fight, and the animators can't even animate his mouth moving half the time. I cannot make sense of the censoring this time. That guy gets hardly any screentime, but they're only reinforcing it now. The two wonder what's happened to Akira and Keisuke, so Rin decides to run away and save the day while Motomi's still forced to wait. Motomi's still smoking while waiting at the church, but only Rin shows up. There's also no opening sequence this time, which may have been the animation team's way of avoiding quality animation vs.

You know, sunlight shining through the clouds and all that. It's that bad overall.Īkira wails about why did Keisuke have to die, while he cries with a dramatic Lion King-esque shot. No one has any idea what's really going on, and I'm fairly positive no one ultimately cares. Implied injuries? Who cares with how poor the execution is. There's even a scene with a closeup of Nano's eyes from ep. So we have about ten shots of the same sky and roof repeated like there's no tomorrow, while we're given battle sound effects while we're looking at these frames. This isn't the first time they suddenly thought to add something in at the last second, but we'll have to work our way there. I also have to point out that this is the only episode where they actually showed Nano's purple eye powers, which happens like all the time in the game. This episode begins with an extremely awkward battle between Shiki and Nano, but the animation is so awful, I can hardly describe how the animation is actually supposed to be portrayed besides Nano getting blasted off rooftops and bursting blood like a bomb from his shoulder while Shiki randomly has a cheap red or pink aura. So bear with me as I attempt to summarize this mess. Watching this episode has proven to be physically painful for me. Oh, where do I begin? This has got to be the absolute worst episode of Togainu no Chi out there, for so many reasons. So here is my summary + review of this episode, now that I've been able to watch it in its entirety. My first viewing was a limit of around 1 minute and 17 seconds before I had to stop I was actually choking on my dinner repeatedly. Now we have episode 12 of Togainu no Chi TV, which I've attempted to watch all the way through like a dozen times.
